After almost a year of hospital visits, physical therapy and medication, the Grade 11 student, now 16, cant wait to get back on the ice.
Jordan was playing hockey at Twin Rinks in St. Johns in January when he started feeling weak.
I noticed during the game I started fumbling the puck, because I couldnt control it right, and I started tripping up skating backwards, which Id never done, really.
So I went to the bench, where my dad was coaching, and then I just told him I had a pain in my head and I collapsed, he said. I remember the paramedics and firemen showing up, but after that it was black.
His father, Doug Chaulk, said although all the signs were there, he didnt immediately think it was a stroke.
My initial reaction was I thought he might have been having a heart attack, because Im not thinking of a stroke for a kid. Now, theres no reason for him to have a heart attack, either, but I didnt know what would cause him to just sort of collapse.
