When a provider interprets tests in the hospital, the cardiology system produces electronic data for each test result and professional billing charges are automatically generated in pMD. Pima Heart in Tucson, Arizona employs pMDs mobile charge capture software, which allows physicians to enter their medical billing charges into their smartphones and send text messages securely to record and manage their hospital billing and outpatient procedures. Billing for cardiology test interpretations can be challenging because they are a high volume, low reimbursement service and therefore require a highly efficient billing process to be profitable. To solve this challenge, pMD worked with cardiology groups to create a standard feed directly from the cardiology systems in which they submit reports for ECGs, echos, and stress tests.
