Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins reveals she was about to start IVF treatment just before she fell pregnant

Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins has revealed she was on the verge of starting IVF treatment when she finally fell pregnant.

The broadcaster, who joined the ITV show from Sky News, said she had been trying for a baby with her husband Mark Herbert for several years.

She told Hello! magazine: "It took a long while for it to sink in that I was pregnant because we'd been trying for quite some time - years, in fact.

"We'd got to the stage where we'd started to think, 'Is this ever going to happen for us?' We'd actually just gone through the paperwork to go down the IVF route as we thought it might be the only option left for us - and even now there's a big part of me that won't quite believe it until I have my baby safely in my arms."

Mark, who admitted he shed a tear when he heard the news, said it was "a huge relief".

Hawkins said her co-hosts on the breakfast show were excited with her news.

She said: "They were so thrilled at work, particularly because it's the first Good Morning Britain baby.

"All the team have been brilliant - and of course they're all parents so they've been giving me lots of advice.

"I remember the next day I went in and Susanna [Reid] had already got me a baby book as a present, and Ben [Shephard] couldn't stop hugging me."

Charlotte announced she was expecting a baby in August on the show, and her co-presenter Susanna Reid shared a picture of Charlotte showing off a tiny bump on Twitter.
