Dr. Laning will serve as scientific advisor to Provia Labs in areas relating to stem cell therapy research and development, regenerative science and biobanking protocols. At a press conference hosted by Provia Labs at last years Chicago Dental Society (CDS) mid-winter meeting, Dr. Laning gave an overview of current research into clinical stem cell applications to a gathering of dental trade media.

Dr. Joseph Laning joins Provia Labs as a Scientific Advisor after 17 years as an experienced executive, manager and scientist in the fields of regenerative medicine, wound care and cell therapy. He began his career at Organogenesis, Inc. where he developed and implemented pre-clinical investigations and subsequently managed all patient immunology safety testing leading to the PMA approval of Apligraf. In 2002, he joined ViaCell, Inc. where he served as Director of Therapeutic Development and subsequently Senior Director of Analytical Biology, overseeing the companys cell therapy development program. ViaCell was acquired in 2007 by PerkinElmer, which now is a leader in the cord blood banking industry under the name ViaCord.

Dr. Laning managed scientific efforts as part of joint ventures with Amgen, J&J, and Alnylam investigating combinatorial stem cell product development initiatives in cardiac repair and hematopoietic reconstitution. Dr. Laning received his BA in Biology from Boston University and his PhD in Immunology from Harvard University.
