Re "Can stem cell treatment cure Type 1 diabetes?" (Forum, March 3): Having a cure for Type 1 diabetes would mean:
Freedom to relax without fear of going unconscious because of a low blood sugar or have future complications because of prolonged high blood sugars.
Freedom from the necessary finger pricking and giving multiple insulin injections.
It would mean I no longer stress my husband with his concern for my diabetes health as well as relieve him of my emotionalism when I feel overwhelmed with the endless task of trying to achieve normal blood sugar control.
It would mean I no longer fear that my son or grandchildren may be struck by this serious autoimmune disease.
It would mean continuing my healthy life-style without Type 1 diabetes.
It would mean millions of people, including innocent children, would be free to live their lives without an albatross around their neck.
It would mean cheers, smiles and dancing 'round the world!
