Dad believes med spa victim's spirit appears during interview

SAVANNAH, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

For seven months, CBS Atlanta News has been investigating the deaths of two women at a metro Atlanta med spa. The family of one of the victims shared their heartbreaking story.

Lonely, best describes Hal Jenkins these days. He often thinks about his daughter April Jenkins and how she'll never again walk through the front door of the Savannah home he built for her.

"I would never let a day go by that I didn't come over here. And I'd look the house over to make sure everything was all right and I'd sit down and think about her. I come in and the house is quiet, and it's just me. And I'm thinking she would probably come out one of the rooms after a while, but she never does," Hal Jenkins said.

April Jenkins died on February 19, 2013, during liposuction performed by Kennesaw doctor Nedra Dodds. CBS Atlanta traveled to Savannah to talk to Hal Jenkins and April's sister Audrey Jenkins about their malpractice lawsuit against Dodds.

During our conversation, something unusual happened. The doorbell rang, but no one was at the door. Hal Jenkins was convinced it was April's spirit.

"God does things in mysterious ways. He did something today, there it is again, and he's agreeing with me and what I'm saying that he did this. That he sent her down as an angel to ring the doorbell and let them know she wants to come in and be a part of this," Hal Jenkins said.

So we rang the doorbell ourselves and we heard a different tone. Hal Jenkins and Audrey Jenkins are convinced it was April's presence.

"The doorbell is ringing and it's a peculiar thing because I've never heard it before, and she's really letting you know she wants to come in now," Hal Jenkins said.

While there's peace in her presence, Jenkins is agitated that authorities have taken no action against Dodds during the past year.
