Enrique Silberblatt, MD of Aesthetic Surgery of Virginia Reveals His Educational Approach to Simplifying the Implant Selection Process for Breast Augmentation Patients

ROANOKE, VA--(Marketwired - Jan 7, 2015) - With the number of breast implant options available in the United States, the implant selection process can seem intimidating to many women considering breast augmentation, states Dr. Enrique A. Silberblatt, a board certified plastic surgeon in Virginia. To make this decision less formidable, he says he works closely with each patient to fully educate them about their choices and help them select the most effective implants based on their cosmetic goals.

At his private practice, Aesthetic Surgery of Virginia, Dr. Silberblatt offers three types of breast implants:

Each implant variety can achieve excellent results and offer distinctive benefits for qualified candidates, notes the Virginia plastic surgeon. Based on the patient's unique body structure and available breast tissue, he says he thoroughly discusses the advantages and disadvantages of all three options during the consultation process to ensure the most informed decision is made.

In regard to selecting the correct breast implant shape and size, Dr. Silberblatt explains that he once again weighs the pros and cons of each choice for every individual. At his practice, he offers both round and anatomically-shaped implants. The former, he discloses, often create added fullness in the upper breast area (similar to the look a push-up bra might achieve), and the latter more closely resemble the look of natural breasts by producing a lower profile and less upper pole roundness. Once the shape has been chosen, Dr. Silberblatt reveals that "implant sizers" are then utilized to help patients visualize potential results with various implant sizes, and he will take multiple measurements to make certain the final selection can be accommodated safely.

In the end, Dr. Silberblatt says the main role he plays throughout the implant selection process is that of an educator, which he feels positively influences the end results. "Although I may provide recommendations for breast implant shapes and sizes based on the goals they have expressed, I leave the ultimate decision up to my patients. By thoroughly understanding the options available to them, I have found postoperative levels of satisfaction to be considerably higher."
