Performing more than 900 procedures per year, Emory's Congenital Cardiac Surgery Center is one of the most active programs in the country and the most comprehensive in Georgia for treating neonates, young infants, children, adolescents, and adults with congenital cardiac disease. Forerunners in the performance of minimally invasive surgical procedures, implantation of mechanical heart devices, and application of improved heart valves, our surgical team has regularly achieved survival outcomes that are at the top of national levels, treating pediatric patients at Sibley Heart Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) at Egleston, and adult patients at the Emory/Sibley Adult Congenital Cardiac Center at Emory University Hospital.

An arrhythmia refers to an abnormal rhythm of the heartbeat. Arrhythmias can happen if the heart beats too fast, too slow, or beats with an irregular rhythm. The cardiology team at the Emory Heart and Vascular Center use innovative methods to diagnose arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation including (but not limited to) Electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG), Echocardiograms, and Electrophysiology (EP) studies. Arrhythmia treatment options are equally as vast and include methods such as use of pacemakers, ablation, medications, implanted cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy.

As one of the premier academic heart failure programs in the world, Emorys Center for Heart Failure Therapy is committed to the advancement of the heart failure therapy. Every day, we lead research efforts; educate physicians, staff, patients and their families; and treat patients with compassionate and comprehensive care.

The Emory Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Clinic is a collaborative effort made up of physicians and other healthcare providers in cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, genetic testing and cardiac imaging. The clinic offers a personalized approach and customizes an appropriate treatment strategy for each patient. Emory has the only dedicated hypertrophic cardiomyopathy clinic in Georgia and has a strong history of excellence in cardiac care.

Interventional cardiology refers to minimally invasive procedures used to diagnose and treat coronary artery and peripheral arterial disease. These procedures use catheters (thin, flexible tubes) and imaging technology to place therapeutic devices and perform lifesaving treatments that would otherwise require open surgery.

Emory Healthcare's Heart & Vascular team is committed to stopping heart disease before it develops. That's why The Heart & Vascular Center at Emory now offers a comprehensive Preventive Cardiology Clinic. The goal of our preventive cardiology programs is to offer comprehensive preventive care to those with or at risk for heart disease, heart failure, and other cardiovascular ailments.

The Structural Heart Program at Emory's Heart & Vascular Center is a collaborative effort involving Emory interventional cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons working together to provide innovative heart treatment solutions and the best possible outcomes for our patients with structural heart diseases, including valve disorders such as aortic stenosis and regurgitation and structural heart defects such as atrial septal defects (ASD).

Emory Womens Heart Program provides cardiac risk assessment, diagnosis and heart disease care through a women-focused approach to cardiovascular care. Our goal is to help women prevent heart disease and improve cardiovascular outcomes through the highest quality patient and family-centered care, research and education.
