The prescription drug resource center DrugRisk.com is alerting patients who have taken the diabetes medication Actos of updated legal news on the site from an ongoing trial over charges that the diabetes drug caused bladder cancer, and that the drug maker failed to warn users of the dangers.

The goal of DrugRisk is to improve consumer safety by providing the latest drug warnings, recalls, legal news and studies. Patients taking Actos have concerns over bladder cancer risks and whether they should seek legal advice, explains DrugRisk representative Ryan Mayer.

The resource center contains Actos warnings from both the FDA and European Medicines Agency* who have stated long-term use of the drug may be associated with an increased risk of bladder cancer. The drug has also been banned in France and Germany.**

In legal news, Actos maker Takeda Pharmaceuticals faces as many as 3,000 claims over Actos bladder cancer.*** More than 1,200 patients have filed an Actos lawsuit against the drug maker in a special multi-district federal court in Louisiana.**** Other cases have been filed in California.

Now, with an Actos lawsuit trial under way in California for a man dying of bladder cancer, DrugRisk has learned that a former pharmacologist for Takeda testified the drug company put sales of Actos before the safety of patients.*****

Lawyers are still helping those diagnosed with bladder cancer after taking Actos file claims. Anyone affected is urged to contact the DrugRisk Resource Center or speak with a lawyer about their legal rights as soon as possible.

Due to the specialized nature of defective drug injury cases, DrugRisk only recommends lawyers and law firms who have already handled Actos lawsuits.
