A MUM says she was "overwhelmed with emotion" after her seven-year-old daughter walked unaided for the first time.

Little Jasmine Morton, who has cerebral palsy, underwent a life-changing operation in 2016 that reduced stiffness in her legs - without it, her mum Sally says, Jasmine would have been wheelchair-bound for life.

Jasmine was diagnosed with spastic diplegia following a brain injury at birth.

It's a form of cerebral palsy that makes it difficult for her to walk, and she has used walking aids for most of her little life.

But now the determined youngster has achieved an incredible 30 steps unaided.

Her proud mum said: "It's a place we were unsure we'd ever get to," the BBC reports.

Two years ago Sally raised over 60, 000 for the miracle op that has enabled Jasmine to take her first steps unaided.

Jasmine was offered the op on the NHS as a trial, but it heartbreakingly fell through.

Jasmine now undergoes regular physiotherapy to help her to get about without her wheelchair, with mum Sally sharing the incredible journey on socual media.

Sally felt compelled to share her brave daughter's incredible journey after being moved by the kindess of strangers who donated thousands for Jasmine's life-changing op back in 2017.

She said: "A man I'd never met before in my life donated 10,000."

One video of Jasmine taking unaided steps, shared to the video-sharing platform TikTok has been seen over half a million times.

Little Jasmine has an able-bodied twin sister, Summer who her mum says is Jasmine's "unsung hero."

Inspired by Summer, Jasmine was determined to run around and play with her twin.

Sally says when she's older Jasmine will be a great advocate for cerebral palsy - having already suggested she discuss the condition at school assemblies.

She added: "Jasmine is going to be very good at sharing the challenges she has gone through in a physically able world."
