Cause of John Witherspoons untimely death revealed – TheGrio

John Witherspoon was so full of life. But a death certificate revealed that he suffered heart problems, that ultimately contributed to his death at the vivacious age of 77.

According to TMZ, the comedian suffered a fatal heart attack, likely because of coronary artery disease, which he was fighting.

Witherspoon also was inflicted with hypertension, but the report doesnt identify it as contributing to his death.

Before his untimely death on Oct. 29, Witherspoon posted a 15-minute video to his YouTube channel on Oct. 28 cooking what he called Poor Man Gumbo. He wore little more than an apron and a chefstoque blanche, and discussed how important it was to create a good roux.

Early on in the video, Witherspoon explained the reason why he hadnt posted to his YouTube page in a year was that he had been working.

Now I know I havent been here for a while, but Ive been busy doing other things, Witherspoon said in the clip. We about to do theBoondocks, and we gonna do anotherFriday, but Ive been around working on the road because Ive been very, very busy and got a big schedule this year.

He was in fact set to reprise his role as Mr. Jones in the cult classicFridayfranchise. He was also due to return toThe Boondocks,according toDeadline.

The next day, paramedics were called to his home after he suffered cardiac arrest. According to his death certificate, by 5:30 p.m. that day Pops, as he was affectionately known, was reported dead.

Witherspoon died on Tuesday, Oct. 29 in his Sherman Oaks, California home.

Witherspoons family has long called the actor and comedian one of the hardest working men in show business.

In announcing his death, his wife and sonstweeted: It is with deep sadness we have to tweet this, but our husband & father John Witherspoon has passed away. He was a Legend in the entertainment industry and a father figure to all who watched him over the years. We love you POPS always & forever.
