The fire department said first responders were initially called for a cardiac arrest incident. The crew determined the patient was not in cardiac arrest, and they began to treat the patient before they were taken to a hospital. The patient's current condition is unknown.The Ankeny Fire Department would not comment further on the incident, but KCCI obtained scanner audio that gives more detail about the incident. A first responder can be heard saying, "Just so you know, this female was transported there deceased, and she is not. They are in the chapel, and she is on a cot."In a statement to KCCI, the funeral home's parent company wrote, "Out of respect for the privacy and confidentiality of the families we are honored to serve, we are not in a position to comment further on this matter."KCCI has received tips that the woman was transported to the funeral home from a nursing home. KCCI spoke with that facility's manager, who would not confirm any involvement.
