May 2, 2023 The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) is making final preparations for its Annual Heart Rhythm Meeting, HRS2023,which continues to bring together thelargest gathering of heart rhythm professionalsfrom around the world. Attendees will join colleaguesin person at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, LA, or online, from May 19-21, 2023,to advance the field of EP and improve patient outcomes through the exchange of groundbreaking science, cutting-edge technologies, and life-saving therapies. The Heart Rhythm Society estimates 7,700 professionals will be participating in this years 3-day event.
The Opening Plenary for HRS2023 will be held onFriday, May 19, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. CT. Program planners report that keynote speaker Kalyanam Shivkumar, MD, PhD, FHRS, UCLA Health, will take attendees on a journey through cardiac EP and introduce the Amara-Yad Project, a physician-led initiative to honor victims of medical exploitation via the publication of a new generation of open-access anatomic atlases. Additionally, HRS leadership will offer meeting highlights and share Society updates presented by:HRS PresidentAndrew D. Krahn, MD, FHRS,Head of the Division of Cardiology and Professor of Medicine,University of British Columbia;HRS2023 Program ChairKenneth A. Ellenbogen, MD, FHRS, VCU Health; andHRS CEOPatricia Blake, FASAE, CAE.
To help attendees gain new knowledge and skills to enhance their daily practice and improve patient outcomes, Heart Rhythm 2023 (HRS23) will provide 200+ enlightening sessions and presentationsled by1,500+ expert Faculty and abstract presenters.
Topicswill range from pacing, defibrillation, clinical arrhythmia management, and ablation to digital health, pharmacology, genetics, basic science, health policy, and more.Sessions are organized into the following11 educational categories:
Sessions in the spotlight being featured by HRS include the HRS 2023 Latin America Summit scheduled for Thursday, May 18, with spotlight sessions 10 on Friday, 11 on Saturday and 10 more on Sunday allowing attendees to explore some of the meetings most anticipated sessions, spanning a wide variety of emerging and controversial topics.
The Late-Breaking Clinical Trials and Science sessions, always the most highly-anticipated andbest-attended of the meeting, will feature some of themost significant and exciting scientific breakthroughsin the field of EP in key areas: Ablation, Ventricular Arrhythmias, Atrial Fibrillation, Innovations, and Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED).Session categories include: Late-Breaking Randomized Clinical Trials; Late-Breaking Clinical Innovations; Late-Breaking Clinical Trial Updates and Registries; and Late-Breaking Science.
Traditional poster boards will return for Heart Rhythm 2023. Abstracts selected for poster presentations will bedisplayed daily during five poster sessions in the Abstract Pavilion(located in the Exhibit Hall). Presenters will stand by their posters during each poster session to answer questions and engage in discussions regarding their abstracts. Posters will be grouped by abstract submission category.
New for Heart Rhythm 2023, selected abstracts will be presented during Moderated Poster Presentations. Presenters will conduct ashort presentation of their abstract via a digital poster, followed by a moderated and interactive discussion of their research. After this moderated presentation, presenters will head to their traditional poster board to answer any additional questions and engage in continuing discussions.
A first for HRS, it will premier a new feature, as it introduces theDigital Education Sip and Learn Series,a new attendee experience premiering at Heart Rhythm 2023 in New Orleans.Interested participants will be able to enjoy refreshments whilelearning about upcoming Core Concepts in EP product updates,and have the opportunity to participate as a live studio audience memberfor special episode recordings of The Beat Webinar Series and The Lead Podcast.

The Beat Episode 8: Cases of Genetic Arrhythmias is set for Saturday, May 20, from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. CT and will feature a live episode recording forThe Beat Webinar Series, in partnership with PACES.
The Lead Episodes 1 & 2: Taking the Lead on Sunday, May 21, from 2:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m. will include live recordings of the inaugural episodes for the Digital Education Committees new podcast,The Lead, reviewing recent journal articles and clinical documents. The sessions are open to all registered attendees and advance registration is NOT required. Program Chair for HRS23 is Kenneth A. Ellenbogen, MD, FHRS, a Pauley Heart Center's Director of Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing on the MCV Campus at Virginia Commonwealth University VCU Health. Ellenbogen has served as a Chair of the Heart Rhythm Society Education Committee and as a member of the Board of Trustees.
The HRS23 Abstract Chair is Mina K. Chung, MD, FHRS. Chung is a Staff Cardiologist and Professor of Medicine in the Section of Pacing and Electrophysiology, The Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Heart & Vascular Institute, and a member of the Department of Molecular Cardiology, Lerner Research Institute, at Cleveland Clinic.

Hands-On Educational Sessions: Attendees can join industry educators and clinical EP specialists forone-on-one training and demonstrationsof the newest technologies and therapies. HRS noted that the Hands-On Education Session is geared towards in-person allied professionals but is open to all in-person attendees.
Hands-On Learning Fellows Courses: HRS has also announced it is excited to offerexclusive hands-on learning opportunities for fellows-in-training to explore cardiac anatomy, ablation biophysics, and cardiac mapping. Notably, these sessions are limited to in-person physician- and scientist-in-training attendees only.Advance registration is required.
