Hartford HealthCare extends partnership with GE HealthCare to install new AI, other technology – Hartford Business Journal

Hartford HealthCare (HHC) and GE HealthCare, a medical technology company, have extended a seven-year partnership that began in 2016 through 2030, enabling HHC to upgrade its imaging devices to the latest technology. As part of the collaboration, HHC will upgrade its imaging technology using a phased approach.

The upgrades will keep Hartford HealthCares imaging technologies up-to-date and may reduce scan times and waiting times for patients, while giving clinicians greater accuracy in diagnostic assessments, according to an announcement.

The agreement also includes GE HealthCare patient monitoring, anesthesia, maternal infant care and diagnostic cardiology technologies.

Our ongoing collaboration with GE HealthCare will allow Hartford HealthCare to provide exceptional imaging services, continually upgrading our technology so patients and clinicians across our system can be confident in having access to the most up-to-date capabilities, said Karen Goyette, executive vice president and chief strategy and transformation officer. This is especially important now, as technologies, equipment and training are advancing at an ever-increasing pace.

Many of the new imaging systems include tested AI and machine learning software, which will enhance clinical expertise, according to HHC.

New software will help clinicians in the intensive care unit by providing AI-powered insights and analytics to analyze medical images and detect potential critical conditions in real-time, according to the announcement.

Also, HHC will get new image reconstruction technology that uses a dedicated Deep Neural Network to generate TrueFidelity CT Images, which have the potential to improve reading confidence in a wide-range of clinical applications such as head, whole body and cardiovascular, for patients of all ages, the announcement states.

Another type of AI tool HHC will use can enhance image reconstruction, using deep learning algorithms to improve the quality and speed of MRI scans.

The collaboration also includes a renewed service agreement, under which GE HealthCare technicians will be available in-house to repair and complete maintenance on equipment.

Through the collaboration, known as The Care Alliance, HHC aims to increase access to innovation while decreasing the total cost of care for patients, the announcement says.

HHC has about 41,000 employees with more than 500 medical facilities in 185 towns and cities in Connecticut.
