Alan Trounson, PhD and President of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, offered a positive and forward looking keynote address. Trounson provided an update on CIRM's translational roadmap to regenerative medicine and outlined their accomplishments with over $300 million in funding for human embryonic stem cell research, adult stem cells, cancer stem cells, reprogrammed stem cells and endogenous stem cells for multiple treatments. He spoke about progress in these areas of research emphasizing their promise and relating how close many treatments are to becoming a reality.
