Despite being outshot 33-14, the Lady Braves forged a 1-1 tie with the visiting Jackson Lady Broncs Friday afternoon in Afton. Star Valley fell behind in the 17th minute after a goal from Pam Arland, but knotted things back up in the 29th minute with a blast from junior Abby Nicoll. The two teams then played a scoreless game from there but it was far from dull. Each team had multiple chances to break the stalemate, including in the second overtime period. The Lady Braves had an absolutely stellar effort in goal from Jessica England who had 17 saves, many at point blank range. It is the first time in the relatively short rivalry of Jackson and Star Valley soccer that the Lady Braves have been able to avoid defeat at the hands of the Lady Broncs.

The Braves were not as fortunate in the late contest, falling behind very early as Jasper Kirsten rocketed an attempt from 20 yards out as it was deflected into the net off the body of Danny Corona in just the 7th minute. The Broncs peppered the Braves with 25 shot attempts on the game as Star Valley had difficulty solving the Jackson defensive puzzle, compiling just 7 shots overall. Will Horstman put the nail in the coffin in the 69th minute to put the visitors up 2-0. Travis Kinslow had nine saves in goal for the Braves.

Both squads will regroup as they host Worland on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.
