FULTON COUNTY, Ga.

Milton police are looking for a man they said robbed thousands of pills from a pharmacy.

Channel 2's Mike Petchenik spoke to Milton police, who said the robbery unfolded at about 9 a.m. on Saturday at the CVS store on Highway 9.

Police believe the value of the drugs are somewhere around $20,000.

They provided surveillance video of the suspect in action.

Police said he came into and pretended to buy an energy drink and protein bar then handed a pharmacist a note saying he had a gun.

"(He) went to the back counter where the pharmacy is and presented a note stating that he had a weapon and that he desired certain prescription medications from behind the counter," said Milton Police Det. Charles Barstow.

The man reportedly told the pharmacist, "I am sick. This is an epidemic and no one will give me what I want," before taking off with about 3,000 pain pills in his backpack. The stolen drugs include Percocet and Oxycodone, which police said the man might be using himself or sell on the black market.

Police said pharmacy robberies such as these are becoming a disturbing trend.

"Between the people who are addicted to it and the people using it for profit, I suspect you'll see a lot more of it," said Barstow.
