Walmart - Playa del Carmen
The food of Mexico is phenominal. I buy my fresh orange juice, bananas, papayas, etc from the little store down at the corner - hard to beat orange juice that was squeezed that day, local bananas picked yesterday. Mexican coffee is incredible, as well as most of the local foods. The list goes on and on. But then there is the time for the big shopping trip, the need to buy food, clothes that don #39;t say something stupid across the front, medicines, personal supplies - all the stuff that makes the world go around. Like you find at Walmart. A short little hike from 5 Ave - this Walmart has just about everything - from soup to nuts - to booze and doughnuts. In house bakery, butcher, seafood, pharmacy, ATM - one stop shopping at it #39;s best - in an air conditioned store. This is definitely a mixing pot of culture here and it #39;s a very interesting place to be immersed in it. And there is a big difference in price from buying the same stuff down on 5 Ave. There is another Walmart but it #39;s north of the 307, not a short jaunt. Playa has a # of big box stores - like Sam #39;s Club and I would be remiss in not pointing out that right next store to this Walmart is the Mega,...a #39;More Mexican #39; version of Walmart - if there is such a thing.
