Pharmacogenetics of Abacavir and Carbamazepine Hypersensitivity
Abacavir and Carbamazepine are both associated with hypersensitivity reactions that are correlated with specific genetic HLA variants. Abacavir has been associated with HLA-B*1502, while Carbamazepine is associated with HLA-B*5701. In this video, we cover the background of the hypersensitivity reaction, the specific reactions themselves, the clinical utility of genetic testing, and the coverage by insurance companies for testing. The authors and producers of this video: Marti Larriva, Stephen Karpen, Michael Klein are all 3rd year pharmacy students (Class of 2014) at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy.From:G4BellaViews:0 0ratingsTime:17:30More inEducation
