A public meeting to gauge views on a community pharmacy in Aberdeenshire is set to take place.

There was local outcry after the Tarves GP surgery closed when it lost its pharmacy dispensing rights.

It could reopen after NHS Grampian's board approved a plan to allow the Haddo Medical Group which runs it to resume dispensing rights in Pitmedden.

Campaigners in favour of the community-led pharmacy hope it will raise money for health provision in the village.

If the application to open the service is approved by NHS Grampian a range of NHS services could be provided, including a drop-in clinic for minor ailments and a smoking cessation service.

The decision to take away pharmacy dispensing rights from the Tarves surgery led to it being closed down in September.

Haddo Medical Group also initially lost dispensing rights in Pitmedden.

The public consultation take place at 19:30 in Pitmedden village hall.
