I #39;m Dr. Bruce Kaufman. I #39;m chief of pediatric neurosurgery and professor of neurosurgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. I #39;m also the medical director of pediatric neurosurgery at Children #39;s Hospital of Wisconsin. Pediatric neurosurgery involves the care of children with diseases of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, but it expands to encompass a number of other things, such as malformations of the skull, spinal malformations, we deal with trauma, we deal with tumors of the brain and spinal cord, we deal with functional problems such as spasticity and movement disorders. We attract patience for epilepsy treatment and for cerebral vascular treatment from across the country. We bring together the specialists who have particular expertise in the areas of the nervous system. That compasses everybody who is needed to support them from our intensive care, through our operating room, through the basic care on the floor. Our Neurosurgery Program, as part of our Neuroscience Program, has been recognized amongst the top hospitals in the country for many years. Each family has its unique interactions, their own level of understanding, but our job is to convey to them what #39;s going on to educate them. I love what I do.
