Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Treatments
He is a known case of Muscular Dystrophy with history of gradual onset of progressive lower extremity muscle weakness noticed since the age of 3 years with complaints of frequent falls while walking and difficulty in climbing stairs and getting up from floor. Gradually, weakness progressed to upper extremity with difficulty in overhead activities. Neurologically, he is hypotonic and hyporeflexic. On examination: He has grade 2 muscle power in all 4 limbs proximally and grade 3++ distally. He stopped walking since 1 year. He has no family history of MD. Functionally, he is dependent for all ADL and mobility. On FIM he scores 76 After Stem Cell Therapy 1) Stamina has improved. 2) Mother reports his hand and leg movements have improved. 3) Earlier while sitting and standing, his heels used to never touch the floor and now while sitting and standing, his heels can almost touch the floor and only a small range is remaining now. 4) He can lift both his shoulders in the modified manner and can bring the hand down in a controlled manner. Earlier his hands used to drop down while bringing it down from shoulder. 5) His knee and hip contractures have reduced. His knee has straightened than before and while stretching his hip flexors in prone position hip level contracture has reduced and the buttocks can touch the bed. 6) In prone position, he couldn #39;t lift his neck.
