Welcome to the National Ataxia Foundation

The National Ataxia Foundation is delighted to announce that the Gordon and Marilyn Macklin Foundation will be again offering a matching research gift for this years annual ataxia research drive. The match challenge will run from October 15th through December 15th. As with last year, after an initial $50,000 is raised during that time period, the Gordon and Marilyn Macklin Foundation will match each research gift dollar for dollar up to a maximum of $150,000.00.

Last year, you and others generously supported the Macklin Foundations Matching Research Grant Challenge, which helped support additional promising ataxia research studies. Important studies which would not have been funded without the generous support of you and the Gordon and Marilyn Macklin Foundation. Last year, through your generosity and our generous partners, the NAF supported 21 studies totaling $1,000,000.00. Details are in the attached RD Letter.

Thank you for participating in IAAD. Many of you have been recognizing IAAD through various events, proclamations, resolutions, and Walk n Rolls throughout the United States. More IAAD events and Walk n Rolls are planned over the coming weeks to bring better ataxia awareness across the country. Through International Ataxia Awareness Day, we honor those with ataxia and their families, and those who we have lost. In recognition of IAAD, please take a moment to tell one person about ataxia. IAAD is raising the level of ataxia awareness across the country and beyond through print and electronic media, radio and television interviews, support from government officials, and events. Tens of thousands of Americans are being better informed about ataxia because of you. Thank you!

Let us know what you did to recognize IAAD! We welcome you to share your experiences and ask you to submit for NAF's newsletter "Generations" a summary of how you recognized IAAD. Your story gives inspiration and direction to others to get involved in IAAD activities. Please submit your IAAD activity to joan@ataxia.org. Thank you!

The National Ataxia Foundation is pleased to announce a partnership with Sanford Research in the establishment of an ataxia patient registry called the Coordination of Rare Diseases at Sanford (CoRDS). (read more)
