Canada-based Trimel Pharmaceuticals has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for Natesto (testosterone), the first and only testosterone nasal gel for replacement therapy in adult males for conditions associated with a deficiency or absence of endogenous testosterone, it was reported yesterday.

The product is self-administered through a nasal applicator, thereby decreasing the risk of secondary exposure of testosterone to women or children.

Clinical Research of South Florida (CRSA) medical director and founder, Jeffrey Rosen, stated that in his practice he regularly encounters men showing symptoms of hypogonadism and physicians will increasingly see this as the North American population ages.
