Nearly 260 testosterone lawsuits (http://www.testosteronelawsuithub.com/) that allege heart attacks, strokes, deep vein thrombosis and other serious cardiovascular events have now been filed in a federal multidistrict litigation (MDL) underway in the Northern District of Illinois, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports.

Court documents updated on November 17th by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) show the filing of 259 lawsuits against the makers of several testosterone replacement therapies. These cases are now pending in a federal proceeding established in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois and allege serious cardiovascular injuries caused by AndroGel, AndroDerm, Testim and other similar products. We are pleased to see further progress in the federal litigation involving testosterone lawsuits, as our Firm continues to hear from men who allegedly sustained serious injuries as a result of testosterone replacement drugs, says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective medical devices and drugs. The Firm is currently offering free and confidential case reviews to men who allegedly suffered heart attacks, strokes, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and other life-threatening cardiovascular problems.

Testosterone Treatment Litigation

The nationwide litigation involving prescription testosterone treatments has continued to mount since January, when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a safety review prompted by the findings of research that linked their use to an increased risk of strokes, heart attacks and other serious cardiovascular injuries. In September, a panel of advisers convened by the federal agency recommended that all manufacturers of testosterone therapies be ordered to conduct studies of their cardiovascular side effects. Panelists also voted 20-1 that drug packaging on these medications be re-labeled to remind men that they have not been approved to treat fatigue, low libido, sexual dysfunction and other symptoms often associated with aging.*

According to court records, testosterone lawsuits now pending in the Northern District of Illinois accuse the makers of testosterone therapy treatments of engaging in marketing practices that position the products as an effective way to treat the above health issues, even though they are only cleared by the FDA to treat men with hypogonadism, which refers to abnormally-low levels of the hormone in conjunction with a medical illness or injury.

Men who sustained heart attacks, strokes and other serious heart problems due to a prescription testosterone drug may be eligible to receive compensation for damages incurred by their alleged injuries.
