Patients shocked to find hormone therapy office under investigation

LEES SUMMIT, Mo. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is investigating Body Renew Medical Group in Lees Summit. Staff at Body Renew Medical Group wouldnt do an interview with FOX 4 on Tuesday about the investigation, but said they were dealing with technicality.

Several patients said they werent notified of their appointment being cancelled, but showed up and were told they couldnt receive their hormone injections.

I called them and I made an appointment and I just said is there anything I need to know before I come in, can I get my shots, said Jennifer Matthies, who has been a patient at the medical group for several months. They were like were not going to be able to do shots today.

Matthies said going to the Body Renew Medical Group has dramatically changed her life for the better and she hopes she can start getting hormones from them again soon.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services couldnt tell FOX 4 why Body Renew Medical Group is being investigated. Its spokesman said in a statement, There is an ongoing investigation involving Body Renew Medical Group, and due to state law the department cannot provide further information at this time.

Sheryl Koziol, a patient at the group, said she showed up Tuesday for an appointment but was also turned away.

They said right now theyre in a, you know, some kind of situation they have to work with, she said. I am overdue on my hormone replacement, I am 18 days overdue so I came for my hormone injection and was in a little shock.

Koziol said she has always had great service at the center and she hope it isnt shut down. Koziol said she wishes she had more information about the investigation.

If you think about it, it does give you a little concern, she said. Im feeling we need some more information so we would all understand clearer.
