For the last 20 years, Abilities Rehabilitation Services, owned by Sue Cook, has been building its service treating people suffering from concussion and brain injury.

The Midland-based company was awarded the best rehabilitation company in the province jointly by the Ontario Brain Injury Association and Personal Injury Alliance (PIA) Law on Sept. 17.

Cook said she was thrilled to learn of the award.

I see it as recognition that as a group we are all practising high-quality, client-centred care, she said.

The clinic employs 35 consultants with a range of professional abilities, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and neuropsychology, who treat people across the province. One physiotherapist focuses solely on treating the many causes of dizziness.

Most of the work comes from people who are involved in car accidents. Cook said she also has clients who were pedestrians hit by a car, or were in accidents involving motorcycles, bicycles, ATVs and snowmobiles.

Abilities also serves veterans and active members of the military who have sustained concussions.
