Arrow to introduce characters from The Flash spinoff

The CW's Arrow is set to introduce several characters from the upcoming spinoff series The Flash, it has been announced.

It was revealed last year that Grant Gustin was to get his own spinoff based on the DC Comics character, with Robert Knepper, Jesse L Martin, Danielle Panabaker, and Carlos Valdes among those in the supporting cast.

Panabaker plays bioengineering expert Caitlin Snow, while Valdes plays Cisco Ramon, a scientist at Central City's S.T.A..R. Labs.

Executive produce Marc Guggenheim explained at a press event on Monday (March 17): "The idea of bringing in those characters really, really appealed to us because it allowed us to honour our original intention [of] doing something Flash-related around Episode 19 or 20 without basically paying Grant Gustin to sit around with his eyes closed/unconscious the whole episode."

Arrow returns to the CW on Wednesday (March 19). Sky1 airs the show in the UK.
