Aruna Hari Sharma in 3rd GTC Ubiquitin Nobel Symposium Las Vegas, NV, USA Feb 25-26, 2013
Aruna Sharma and Hari Sharma from Uppsala University were invited to present their work in 3rd International GTC Ubiquitin Congress on Drug Discovery in Las Vegas, NV, Palms Casino resort on Flamingo Rd, USA Feb 25-26, 2013. This ubiquitin congress is organized and supported by the Nobel Laureate Sir Aaron Ciechanover who won the Chemistry Nobel 2004 for his discovery on Ubiquitin. In this Nobel symposium organized by GTC Hari Aruna Sharma were invited to present their novel work on Ubiquitin in the Central nervous system (CNS) injury and repair. The large question was whether ubiquitin overexpression in the brain is good or bad. Hari Sharma and Aruna Sharma together with Herbert Mssler and Dafin F Muresanu from Ever Neuro Pharma and University of Medicine Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, respectively in collaboration showed that Ubiquitin overexpression could be seen in different brain regions specifically after heat stress and this is further exacerbated by nanoparticles treatment, eg, silica dust intoxication. This overexpression of ubiquitin is associated with brain pathology and pretreatment with cerebrolysin (Ever Neuro Pharma, Austria) is able to thwart ubiquitin overexpression in the normal brains after heat stress. However, nanowired delivery of cerebrolysin is needed when silica dust intoxication takes palace before heat stress. This strategic result was acclaimed by many scientists working on the ubiquitin and also the Nobel Laureate congratulated them for ...
