Every time he does this, Big Mac waters down his words of remorse.

If he could have done all of his without steroids, what is he sorry about?

No, steroids were not the only thing that made McGwire a hitter of homers. He had a sweet, short swing. His approach at the plate was stellar; he made pitchers come to him, then punished them.

He clobbered home runs as a kid. He clobbered them as a college player at USC. He clobbered 49 as a major league rookie in 1987.

But to argue that steroids didnt make McGwire a bigger, better basher during the 1990s simply ignores science. We know better. McGwire has to know better. If he truly has convinced himself otherwise, well, hes wrong. Its so obvious. And yet, he keeps swinging away.

McGwire still wants us to believe the substances he injected and swallowed throughout the 90s helped him recover from certain injuries and prevent others, but that those same substances didnt help him hit towering homers at a historic rate. At last check, staying healthy is a pretty big key to hitting home runs.

He still wants us to believe that he gave the PEDs a map when he used them. Help here, but not there. Help this, but not that. You dont have to have a chemistry degree to see the flaws in this logic. You make the decision to take the steroids. You dont get to decide what the steroids help and dont help.
