25-years ago:

A town ordinance prohibiting smoking in public facilities and the selling of smoking products to minors became one step closer to law Monday night at the Afton Town Council meeting. Areas that would be exempt from the ordinance would be establishments in which malt, vinous, and /or spirituous liquor are sold for consumption on the premises . . . violations of the ordinance call for a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars.

An upset in the minds of some took place in the last race Saturday when J/L Racing Stables, which to that point was the associations only undefeated team, was easily outrun by Nelson Quarter Horses.

50-years ago:

Students of the speech department of the Star Valley High School participated in an invitational speech meet at Green River Saturday, Jan. 26, under the direction of Ben. C. Canning, SVHS speech director. Twenty-one students of the local school accompanied Mr. Canning to the meet to compete or participate in prose, poetry and debate.

A magnificent artist, one of the worlds finest vocalists, William Warfield, will appear at the Star Valley High School Auditorium, Saturday, Feb. 9 at 8 pm. In the second concert in the 1962-63 series of the Star Valley Community Concert Association, according to Robert Hastings, president.
