Just like a quick start helped them to a victory over the weekend against Kelly Walsh, the Green River Wolves scored twice in the games first seven minutes and held a 2-0 lead heading into halftime on their way to a 3-1 non-conference inter-class game on Braves Field in Afton.

The best shots Green River had in the match resulted in the two early goals as Victor Allatorre got past Star Valleys Travis Kinslow in the 4th minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The momentum kept going as the Wolf pack ganged up for another run at the Star Valley net just three minutes later, this time punched in the right side by Chase Erickson in the 7th minute.

The Braves countered the Wolves and decidedly controlled the action for the remainder of the first half, but were forced to settle for several close calls which were either wide of the net or saved by Alexander Marchal who finished with eight saves for Green River.

The second half also got underway with a pair of quick goals. This time, Star Valleys Cole Bagley put the Braves lone goal into the net during a chaotic exchange from the right side on a very difficult angle to draw the home team to 2-1 in the 41st minute. With the crowd finally back in the game, the pressure of a one-goal game was very short-lived as a foul in the box put the Wolves Cody Lucas on the line. Kinslow put up a good effort but the ball trickled past for the eventual final score in the 43rd minute

The Braves outshot the Wolves 18-10 unofficially over the course of the game but had a difficult time penetrating the visitors defense. Kinslow finished with four saves on the day in his first start of the season. The loss moved Star Valley to (2-4) (1-0) on the season. The next opportunity will come on the road on April 6, in Pinedale at the end of the Spring Break week as the crimson & gold move back into conference play.
