Description of Services Heart Institute at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology, a partof the Heart Instituteat Children's Hospital of Pittsburghof UPMC,provides the most up-to-date technology to deliver a full complement of services to infants, children, adolescents, and adultswho are born with a congenital heartdefect (CHD) or acquire heart disease. Services are providedfrom before birth to adulthood.

Surgery services are performed by members of the Pediatric Section of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Division, part of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicines Department of Surgery and top rated in the U.S. with the lowest overall four-year surgical mortality rate among all medium- and high-volume programs. Members of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Division provide cardiothoracic surgical intervention for infants, children and young adults with congenital cardiovascular disease, congenital abnormalities of the tracheobronchial tree and abnormalities of the chest wall.
