The Cardiology Department of KSB Hospital is among the finest in the area, offering a wide range of services from testing and diagnosis to interventional treatment and cardiac rehabilitation. Staffed by three experienced, knowledgeable and skilled specialists, the Cardiology Department has made it possible for 98% of its heart patients to receive care locally instead of traveling out of town.

The Cardiovascular Services Lab at KSB first opened its doors in 2006. Patients at KSB have taken advantage of the extensive cardiac care now available close to home, and have helped make the Cath Lab a strong department of the hospital.

The number of cardiac catheterizations performed at KSB greatly surpasses the number initially estimated for the lab and now approaches 750 to 800 cases a year. Instead of traveling to Rockford, Chicago, or the Quad Cities for cardiac procedures, patients can now stay at KSB for cardiac care. The lab boasts state-of-the-art technology that supports efficient cardiac and vascular diagnostics while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

In addition to providing cardiac diagnostic angiograms and interventions, the KSB Cardiovascular Lab also offers peripheral diagnostic angiograms and interventions.

When a cardiac patient has undergone an intervention, whether it be an angioplasty or open-heart surgery, several weeks of rehabilitation are recommended. KSB also can fulfill this need with its expansive, modern Cardiac Rehab Department. Opened in 2009 on the third floor of Commerce Towers, Cardiac Rehab now provides patients with a local option for working out while under the supervision of a fully staffed department of registered nurses and technicians. And they can do all of this while looking out over the scenic Rock River several stories below.
