A woman who has cared for a man with Cerebral Palsy and Dystonia for two months has successfully raised over 1,000 for the cause.

Charlotte Williams decided to shave her head to raise money for specialist equipment which will help David Dempsey, 20, to strengthen his muscles.

David suffered a severe infection when he was one week old that damaged a part of his brain leaving him unable to walk or talk.

A machine was temporarily provided courtesy of a trial programme with Innowalk Pro that has helped Davids mobility and exercise. And now the family would like to purchase a permanent machine for their son but the cost is 25,000.

In a bid to contribute towards the costs of the equipment, carer Charlotte set up live streaming across three social media platforms as Sandra Poulain, a hairdresser from Jerry Bell Hairdressers, conducted the trim.

In total over 1,000 was raised through the thousand strong subscribers that tuned in to watch the live broadcast.

Afterwards Charlotte said she felt light-headed and jokingly added that she hopes she will remember in the morning before she looks in the mirror.

Meanwhile, Davids family are continuing their pursuit of raising further funds via a range of appeals and fundraising events.

Mother Caron spoke of how grateful she is for any donations for her son.

Its going to be a very long journey. We cant just sit back and expect it to come to us just because we have a Go Fund Me campaign. Luckily, we have many fundraiser ideas planned for the future.

Its going well so far. To say were pleased is an understatement. Anything that is given by anyone will help and mean something to David.
