Dog Branded With Profanity Gets Cosmetic Surgery
Posted: Published on September 26th, 2014
A pit-bull puppy named Felicity that was branded with the "f-word" by chemical burns had cosmetic surgery in Kentucky on Thursday to mask the scar. Felicity was found last month tied to a fence in Lexington with the scar on her side. She was taken in by the Lexington Humane Society, who said that they wanted to perform the surgery before sending her to a new home. Liz Ubelhor, the veterinarian who performed the procedure, said the people who burned her likely used a chemical paste or liquid, the Associated Press reports. (Image credit: Lexington Humane Society) Lexington Humane Society development manager Ashley Hammond told WKYT, "We think doing plastic surgery on her will make her a little more adoptable and we don't want people to make judgments on her based on her appearance." Hundreds of dollars were donated to help the Humane Society pay for Felicity's procedure. The Lexington Humane Society is offering a $3,500 reward for information on who burned Felicity. Despite tips Animal Control has received, no arrests have been made, WKYT reports. Animal control has asked that anyone with information on what happened to Felicity to contact them at 859-255-9033 ext. 229. Here is the original … Continue reading

The University Of Texas Southwestern Medical School Plastic Surgery Residency Program Ranked #1 Plastic Surgery …
Posted: Published on September 26th, 2014
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 25, 2014 In data released last week, the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical School Plastic Surgery Residency Program was ranked number one in the country based on a peer review process including more than 50,000 nominations submitted by board-certified physicians to U.S. News and World Report and Doximity. The data was collected as part of a larger initiative to create a discovery tool for senior medical students to help them learn about programs that fit their own personal career and training goals. Jeffrey Kenkel, MD, professor, interim chairman and director of UTSWs plastic surgery residency program was thrilled to receive the news. Typically, residency programs in plastic surgery focus on reconstruction and not as much on aesthetics. It is an honor to be in a leadership role in education and to continue to stress the importance of aesthetics in plastic surgery. Because we added an entire year of training to our residencies, we have more opportunities to broaden our residents education in areas such as clinic, research, and working with our clinical faculty in the private practice community. This allows them to gain first-hand experience seeing patients pre- and post-surgery, while learning the proper procedures … Continue reading

What you need to know about aesthetic facial surgery
Posted: Published on September 19th, 2014
There are three aesthetic layers of the face. These layers include the skin, the subcutaneous tissue, i.e. the fatty layer, and the deep fascia including the muscle. Most aesthetic surgery is focused on these three main layers. Skin: Lets start off with the first and most visible layer, the skin. Dermatologists often see patients with troublesome red spots, dark spots, pores and fine lines. Most skin-directed therapies are best tackled with lasers. As a general rule the more energy that is applied to the skin the better the efficacy. The downside is as we apply more energy, the higher the injury to the skin surface, and therefore longer duration for skin renewal and recovery thus requiring longer downtime. A good example of this is the high energy ablative fractionated CO2 resurfacing laser which produces superb results but also has a significant downtime of about one to two weeks. On the other end of the spectrum is the low-energy device such as Clear+ Brilliant which produces subtle skin surface changes, however, has little downtime. Most resurfacing devices have varying degrees of efficacy for fine lines, pores and pigmentation. Treatment of red spots is different as one needs to target the blood … Continue reading

Hollywoods Nip/Tuck Obsession EXPOSED 50 Plastic Surgery Secrets & Scandals
Posted: Published on September 18th, 2014
Michael Jackson: The late king of pop symbolized celebrity plastic surgery for years, and he got started early, at age 21! According to Jacksons biographer, J. Randy Taraborrelli, Jackson underwent his first corrective surgery, rhinoplasty, in 1979 after breaking his nose while dancing. The surgery was only partly successful and subsequently caused breathing problems, so he underwent a second rhinoplasty in 1980. Many more procedures followed; his mom Katherine Jackson admitted after his death that Michael was addicted to plastic surgery. La Toya Jackson: Michael Jacksons older sister, 57, has had her share of plastic surgeryand it looks like the list includes liposuction on her stomach. Dr. Toby Mayer, co-director of the Beverly Hills Institute of Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgery, said hes never seen liposuction go so wrong. All that wrinking on her upper abdomen is what happens when you remove too much fat, said Dr. Mayer. Heidi Fleiss has gotten a whole lot lippier as the years have gone by and is also rumored to have gotten cheek implants. Jocelyn Wildenstein earned her nickname the cat woman after undergoing more than $4 million dollars worth of surgeries to look like a feline for her husband! Facelifts, lip augmentation, breast … Continue reading

One country has more plastic surgery than U.S.
Posted: Published on September 16th, 2014
RIO DE JANIERO, BRAZIL- The country thats also known for a particular variety of womens waxing is having a lot of other procedures done as well. Brazil now ranks number uno when it comes to cosmetic surgery (1,491,721 in 2013). The U.S. falls just behind (1,452,356). According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Brazilians have 12.9 percent of the 11.6 million annual procedures worldwide. The top chop is liposuction, followed closely by boob jobs. On that note, Venezuela has a major problem: a scarcity of brand-name breast implants! Women are reportedly so desperate for voluptuous curves, doctors are turning to pieces that are the wrong size, made in China and low quality all around. Safe to say fake boobs arent the direst shortfall in the socialist South American country, but what can we say, they just like to have the breast, we mean the best, when it comes to appearance. Read the rest here: One country has more plastic surgery than U.S. … Continue reading

Plastic surgery-obsessed Venezuela hit by shortage of breast implants
Posted: Published on September 15th, 2014
Hannah Dreier, The Associated Press Published Monday, September 15, 2014 6:48AM EDT Last Updated Monday, September 15, 2014 7:02AM EDT CARACAS, Venezuela -- Venezuela's chronic shortages have begun to encroach on a cultural cornerstone: the boob job. Beauty-obsessed Venezuelans face a scarcity of brand-name breast implants, and women are so desperate that they and their doctors are turning to devices that are the wrong size or made in China, with less rigorous quality standards. Venezuelans once had easy access to implants approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. But doctors say they are now all-but impossible to find because restrictive currency controls have deprived local businesses of the cash to import foreign goods. It may not be the gravest shortfall facing the socialist South American country, but surgeons say the issue cuts to the psyche of the image-conscious Venezuelan woman. "The women are complaining," said Ramon Zapata, president of the Society of Plastic Surgeons. "Venezuelan women are very concerned with their self-esteem." Venezuela is thought to have one of the world's highest plastic surgery rates, and the breast implant is the seminal procedure. Doctors performed 85,000 implants here last year, according to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. … Continue reading
