Women who travel to South Korea for the countrys infamousand rampantplastic surgery are facing a new hurdle post-op: They are being denied entry to their home countries because their new faces don't resemble their passport photos. According to Kotaku, which sourced articles from Korean websitesOnboaandMunhwa, some Chinese and Japanese women who visit South Korea to go under the knife are refused re-entry by border agents unable to recognize them from their passport photos. The sites reported that some South Korean hospitals are issuing plastic-surgery certificates for overseas patients to circumvent issues when traveling back home. The hospitals claim having the certificate will help customs officials verify faces with photos and bypass calling hospitals to confirm the procedures. The certificates include the patients passport number, information about the hospital and the length of their stay, along with the hospitals official seal. The report said these certificates have been in existence for three years but are more common now that plastic-surgery operations have become more prevalent. Onbao reported that visits to South Korea on medical tourism visas have increased tenfold, with 25,176 tourists in 2013 up from just 2,545 in 2011. Corona Plastic Surgeon Discusses What to Consider Before Post Bariatric Surgery

Posted: Published on April 17th, 2014

SOURCE: Christopher Chung, M.D. Dr. Christopher Chung of Renaissance Aesthetic Surgery Explains the Elements to Consider Before Undergoing Multiple Contouring Procedures to Complete a Weight Loss Transformation CORONA, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 16, 2014) - Corona plastic surgeon Christopher Chung, MD says many post bariatric patients face the common issue of having extra, loose skin in areas where they have lost a significant amount of weight. From his experience, he notes that the success of their diets, exercise routines, and/or bariatric surgeries resulting in tremendous weight loss can often be overshadowed by uncomfortable and self-conscious feelings regarding their excess skin. Fortunately, adds Dr. Chung, a body lift can effectively address many of these concerns by tightening and minimizing excess skin tissue, typically offering a recontoured, aesthetically-pleasing shape. In a recent blog post on his website titled, "After Weight Loss Body Contouring: 5 Elements to Consider," the Corona plastic surgeon notes that because a body lift often combines several procedures, such as arm lift, breast lift, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), and more, there are many elements to be considered to ensure optimal safety and results. Dr. Chung says the first thing that must be assessed is the overall physiologic and nutritional state of … Continue reading

Dr. Mentz Teams up with SkinMedica for the GRASS Anti-Aging Campaign

Posted: Published on April 14th, 2014

Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 14, 2014 Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Henry Mentz, of the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery, has recently teamed up with SkinMedica for the GRASS Campaign in an effort educate his patients on the five pillars of anti-aging skincare products. There are a lot of confusing skincare buzzwords, such as retinols, anti-oxidants, peptides, etc. Therefore, SkinMedica has created an acronym to help patients make sense of all the anti-aging products on the market: GRASS. Growth factors: Human growth factors are the bodys system for wound healing and repair. As people approach their 30s, growth factor production slows. This is why adult wounds heal more slowly than childrens, and why adults start to show aging. By applying growth factors in the form of a topical skin product, they are absorbed into the skin where they can heal skin damage and reverse aging. Retinols: With age, skin cell turnover slows down and the skin holds on to the dull, dead skin cells. Retinoids prompt the skin to flake off old skin cells quickly, revealing a new layer of skin. This continuous cycle of turning over cells helps the skin maintain a youthful glow. Antioxidants: The main causes of skin … Continue reading
