If you're looking to "get a little work done," you're not alone. Demand for cosmetic procedures is growing. Now, hospitals are hoping to cut into plastic surgeons' business -- a trend they claim could save all of us money. If your New Year's resolution is a new you, get in line. "No doubt, more and more patients are coming to us for cosmetic work," said Dr. Randolph Wojcik Jr., a plastic surgeon with Lehigh Valley Health Network. "Our percentage of cosmetic patients increases every year." From Botox to breast implants, cosmetic procedures are hot. "I see all age groups," said LVHN medical aesthetician Jennifer Anllo. "I see men and women." Now, hospitals are hoping to cash in on that growth. Hospitals only performed 19 percent of all cosmetic procedures in 2012, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. At an open house Thursday, LVHN hoped to lure patients from private doctors. Anllo believes hospitals have a lot to offer cosmetic patients. "We have a lot of doctors here that help me find the best products -- more medical-grade," she said. The real attraction for some patients is that many procedures can now be done on their lunch break. … Continue reading

Deborah Davenport, with a picture of the woman she aspires to look like, actress Kate Winslet, in McKinney, Texas, Aug. 30, 2013. So far, Davenport has had procedures ranging from a nose job to Botox injections, but says she still has more to do. (Rex C. This is not a lucky roll of the genetic dice. Dean, a freelance fashion stylist in Manhattan, had surgery 13 years ago to have his visage molded to resemble, at the very least, Paradis' second cousin, if not her identical twin. "I wanted her baby face," said Dean, who is 37 but said most people guess he is in his mid-20s. "I still find her my favorite beauty of all." Magazines and websites routinely publish photographs of people who have altered their faces to look like a movie star, pop singer, Mattel product, Egyptian queen or, in the notorious and perhaps unintentional case of the socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein, a wild animal. While requests for these sorts of utter transformations do not take place every day, doctors say they do happen regularly. "About once a month, someone comes in who wants to look like a family member, friend or celebrity," said Dr. Sam Lam, a … Continue reading

Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery Shares Results of Recent Study

Posted: Published on January 14th, 2014

Houston, TX (PRWEB) January 13, 2014 Genetics may be only part of the reason for the look of aging on a persons face; stress, divorce and antidepressants can also age a person significantly, according to a recent study. This study, published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, confirmed the beliefs of Dr. Rolando Morales of the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery. The study highlights something that Dr. Morales has explained to his patients for years: not all of the factors that age ones face are obvious or simple. For example, twins who have lived different life experiences have different perceived ages. Factors such as divorce, anti-depressants and weight can have an effect on a persons perceived age. Most of us instinctively know about things like smoking and the effect it can have on aging, but other less obvious factors, such as the stress of divorce and the use of anti-depressants, can also change a persons apparent age, said Dr. Morales. At my office, I see people every day that have experienced life and, unfortunately, it shows on their faces. Through the use of cutting edge techniques, Dr. Morales is able to erase … Continue reading
