Geena Davis heading to TV on "Grey's Anatomy"
Posted: Published on August 11th, 2014
Geena Davis arrives at The Hollywood Reporter's 22nd Annual Women In Entertainment Breakfast at Beverly Hills Hotel on Dec. 11, 2013, in Beverly Hills, Calif. Jason Merritt/Getty Images Geena Davis is going to be scrubbing in on "Grey's Anatomy." The Oscar winner has been cast in a "major guest arc" on the upcoming 11th season of the medical drama, her rep and ABC confirmed to E! News. Character and plot details are scarce, but reports say Davis, 58, will play a surgeon on the series -- perhaps not surprising in the wake of Dr. Cristina Yang's (Sandra Oh) departure from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital at the end of last season. Davis starred in (and received an Emmy nomination for) the short-lived TV series "Commander in Chief," and also recently appeared in Lake Bell's indie film "In a World..." "Grey's Anatomy" returns to ABC in September. 2014 CBS Interactive Inc. All Rights Reserved. See the rest here: Geena Davis heading to TV on "Grey's Anatomy" … Continue reading

Greys Anatomy adds guest star Geena Davis for season 11
Posted: Published on August 10th, 2014
With Greys Anatomy season 11 filming underway, Geena Davis has been cast as a new surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Although Greys Anatomy has lost an amazing talent in Sandra Oh theyre gaining an Oscar Winner with Geena Davis. While The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Davis would be playing a surgeon its not clear what department shell be joining. Her role is described as a major arc for season 11. At the end of Greys Anatomy season 10 it was revealed that Merediths half sister (that she doesnt know about) Margaret Pierce was hired as head of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Its possible that Davis character could be taking the job left empty by Cristina. Actress Kate Burton will also be returning this season to play the role of Ellis Grey in the form of flashbacks. Were guessing that the flashbacks will fill in the void of what happened with Margarets birth/adoption and how no one seemed to know about it. You may recognize Davis from her roles in Commander in Chief, Stuart Little, A League of Their Own, and Thelma & Louise. Davis won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1989 for The … Continue reading
