Triage training is nothing to scoff at, especially when an earthquakes leaves the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial in various states of crisis on tonights Greys Anatomy season 11, episode 15. Amelia Shepherd and Arizona Robbins overcame two career defining hurdles. Amelia completed the 18 ours surgery to remove Nicole Hermans brain tumor while Arizona performed her first solo fetal surgery despite the lack of confidence from her surgical team. Despite Amelias heroic attempt to successfully remove the tumor and leave no signs of damage, Dr. Herman wakes up completely blind. Her optic nerve was far too damaged to make a full recovery from the stress the tumor placed on it. But she is able to figure out the next step of her life, a chance should would not have had otherwise. After three weeks of medical traumas, the doctors on Grey's Anatomyare back to focusing on their love lives and all is right(ish) in the Grey Sloan world. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is distracting herself from thinking about Derek by throwing herself into work - i.e. taking on extra cases and starting her morning rounds in the middle of the night, not to mention pitching a "no-hitter" since the middle of November. But can she keep up the streak? Not sooner does Jo (Camilla Luddington) bring up Meredith's record to Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) than an earthquake shakes Grey Sloan, conveniently leaving Maggie stranded in an elevator with the (super cute) radiology staffer Ethan, and Bailey (Chandra Wilson) needing protection from Ben (Jason Winston George) in the hallway, loath as she is to admit it. Ben's knight-in-shining-armor routine leaves Bailey with the perfect opportunity to ask if he's called his transgender sister lately. (He hasn't.) Shonda Rhimes, creator of the hit ABC series Greys Anatomy, shook things up quite literally during tonights Season 11 installment titled I Feel The Earth Move. Episode 15 began on an intense note with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) cautiously operating on a patient. But it was Jos (Camilla Luddington) attentiveness while watching the surgery that caught our eyes -- and Stephanies (Jerrika Hinton), too! Steph questioned why the resident was studying Meredith like a hawk. And as it turned out, it was because Meredith was on a lucky streak. According to Jo, Mer hasnt lost the life of a single patient since November. Shes pitching a no hitter! Stephanie excitedly exclaimed. But dont these girls know anything about jinxing? Right after they proclaimed Merediths success, an earthquake hit, shaking the entire OR. Meredith held on to her patient for dear life as the floor wobbled beneath her. The earthquake caused just as much damage outside as it did in Grey Sloan. Following the disaster, injured patients flooded the hospital, ranging from quake-caused sex injuries to skiing accidents. Merediths been pretty absent from episodes as of late, and thats apparently because shes been busy operating her little heart out: Since Derek left on Nov. 14, Merediths done 89 surgeriesand hasnt lost a single patient, something that causes Jo to call her magic. Meredith doesnt know that shes on a so-called streak though, or that Jos secretly bowing down to her. Shes too busy working. So busy, in fact, that she skips out on a trip to D.C. to see Derek. And shes okay with that: Merseems to have really taken Yangs hes not the sun, you are goodbye speech to heart and is all about taking care of herself and acknowledging that, no, the worlddoesntrevolve around her husband. Alex is suspicious, and he and Grey spend most of their screen time (which isnt much) arguing about relationshipsand tending to an injured family, but that part is fairly boring especially compared to Merediths musings on herself and her relationship. Meanwhile, Callie and Maggie are dealing with an older woman who broke her hip during sex.
