Trounson provided an update on CIRM's translational roadmap to regenerative medicine and outlined their accomplishments with over $300 million in funding for human embryonic stem cell research, adult stem cells, cancer stem cells, reprogrammed stem cells and endogenous stem cells for multiple treatments. Rudolf Jaenisch, MD (MIT) and recently named winner of the National Medal of Science, discussed the key issues facing the field of highly pluripotent stem cells including ES cells and iPS cells.
