‘It has changed our lives’ Thrilled mum overwhelmed as dart legend Phil Taylor gives 20k towards sick young fan’s … – Scottish Daily Record
Posted: Published on May 16th, 2017
A thrilled mum last night told how her six-year-old sons life could be transformed after an amazing gesture by darts legend Phil Taylor. Taylor gifted 20,000 to help young fan Jackson Waddell who has cerebral palsy have potentially life-changing treatment in the US. He decided to donate after meeting Jackson at an exhibition in Scotland at the weekend and being blown away by the kids bravery and warmth. Jacksons family, from Irvine, are trying to raise 70,000 to send him to America for a pioneering operation by renowned neurosurgeon Dr TS Park at the St Louis Childrens Hospital in Missouri. Jackson relies on a frame and wheelchair but its hoped the surgery, which involves cutting nerves to make his legs easier to function, will allow the youngster to stand on his own two feet or even be able to walk. After hearing the news, Taylor nicknamed The Power handed over the money and set about ensuring celeb pals such as Robbie Williams add to the fund to ensure the lad gets to America. Jacksons mum and dad, Jacqueline and Craig, and the entire family have been left overwhelmed by the gesture and say everything has now changed in their quest … Continue reading

Comments(0) The family of a little boy who has cerebral palsy have been told he might be able to walk for the first time but they have to raise nearly 40,000 as the operation he needs isn't funded by the NHS. Identical twins Fynn and Leo Fleming were born prematurely at 30 weeks, with Leo weighing in at a tiny 1.7lbs and Fynn at 3.5lbs. The parents of the two happy babies noticed around a year later that Fynn wasn't hitting as many milestones as his brother and was unable to sit up or crawl. Fynn was soon diagnosed with cerebral palsy which makes the toddler stiff and his movements jerky. Read next: The wife of the man who fell from the Tamar Bridge has a message for us all Above all, the two-year-old is a happy boy who loves to mess around with his twin Leo. The family would love to see their boys be able to walk hand in hand and with the selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) operation it would make that goal achievable. But after being told the fantastic news that Fynn was an excellent candidate for the spinal surgery, they were delivered the blow that the … Continue reading

Associate Professor Megan Munsie, Dr Casimir MacGregor, Dr Claire Tanner, Jane Brophy and Professor Alan Petersen In Australia, in recent years, there have been a number of news reports of patients and carers travelling overseas for stem cell treatments. Their journeys are part of a wider international trend, commonly referred to as stem cell tourism, whereby patients and their carers travel across geographical borders and jurisdictions to receive treatments that are experimental or clinically unproven, and hence, may not be available to them where they live. Posted: Published on May 5th, 2017
Ben during one of his therapy sessions A MIDDLEWICH mum is asking a clinical commissioning group to help pay for her sons therapy sessions. Ben Baddeley, from Staffordshire, suffers from Cerebral Palsy, and his mum Amy has been refused funding from North Staffordshire CCG because he is a private patient. Amy said: We were offered help by the CCG to begin with but since they examined him their correspondence with us has been very poor We have put in over 20,000 for Bens treatment over the years and raised it, all and all were asking for back is 150 a week to fund his therapy. Unfortunately we cant keep going on like this because the longer we fundraise, the tougher it gets to come up with ideas. Bens now gone without any sessions for a few weeks and its starting to have an adverse effect on him. I dont know what they expected to happen.
