A controversial pilot project reduced the cost of the most effective malaria drugs by giving manufacturers, such as Guilin Pharmaceutical in China, subsidies. One of the world's largest health funding agencies the Global Fund made two big decisions Thursday. The fund appointed Dr. Mark Dybul as its new executive director. Dybul is best known for leading the international fight against HIV during the Bush's administration through the President's Emergency Plan For AIDS. The fund's board also decided the fate of a controversial $225 million project that subsidizes the cost of the most effective malaria drugs in Africa. The fund says it will discontinue financial support for the Affordable Medicines Facility-malaria program, or AMFm, after a one-year transition period. Countries that wish to continue using subsidies will have to divert money from their regular malaria work to pay for them. There has been a vigorous debate in the global health community about AMFm. LONDON (Reuters) - Sanofi won the backing of European regulators for two new drugs against diabetes and cancer on Friday, a shot in the arm for the French company's drive to bring new products to market. New diabetes drug Lyxumia was recommended for treating type 2 diabetes and Zaltrap was endorsed for the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said. Recommendations from the EMA are normally endorsed by the European Commission within two or three months and Sanofi said it expected to hear from the Commission in the first quarter of 2013. Lyxumia, which Sanofi licensed from Denmark's Zealand Pharma, is part of a new class of diabetes treatments called GLP-1 analogues which prompt the body to release insulin when a diabetic's blood sugar level climbs too high. It is one of several new medicines Sanofi is banking on to drive growth after patent losses on former top-selling drugs. Pierre Chancel, Sanofi's global head of diabetes, said the positive opinion for Lyxumia was "an important milestone" and would help expand the company's already strong diabetes franchise, which is dominated by the long-acting insulin Lantus. Soap Opera This is a Film and Television segment production for my film class at school. I named it, "Day By Day" and it is soap opera. It's about a rich and successful family who now live in the big New York City. (Bethany Miller, Bruce Miller and Chris Miller). (1st Scene) Bethany is suffering from anxiety of her break up with Nathaniel Jenkins and dreaming of her long lost mother, Brooke Walsh, she goes to her therapist, Dr Lyn Hamilton to discuss it. She is per-scripted drugs, so she can over come her anxiety. (2nd scene) Bethany comes how upset and reveals her discussion with her brother Chris, but her father over hears it and is furious with them talking about her mother. Beth and Bruce fight, making Beth go back to her room to take her drug, to relief her stress, giving her a nightmare of her mother, scaring her. Then, Beth decides to research her long lost mother, (Brooke Walsh) and ends up finding her. She leaves to go to Brooke's house address.
