Steve Nagel - AZT Poisoning and Child Abduction: Dear General Public, My name is Cheryl Nagel, and I am the grandmother of Rico Nagel Martinez, who was born December 19, 2012. saverico.com I am writing to tell you about my grandson, Rico, who has been taken from us and is presently a patient at St. Mary's Hospital. Because our 22 year old daughter was unable to feed him, they hooked him up to a nasal tube, and later did two surgeries to install a gastric tube. The reason she was unable to feed him is because Mower County Child Protective Services removed him from our home. The reason they removed him from our home is because of a cancelled a doctor's appointment. Rico was taken right out of Lindsey's arms by a CPS officer on January 18, 2013, in our home. Lindsey and John, our future son-in-law, live with us. It was 3:00 on a Friday afternoon, and it's difficult to even write about because it was the worst day of our lives. See Rico's Mother's Story here: AZT Poisoning The Lindsey Nagel Story youtu.be The Vendetta: The Kidnapping And Torture of Rico Martinez … Continue reading

Mylan to buy injectable drugs unit of Strides for $1.6 billion
Posted: Published on February 28th, 2013
REUTERS - Generic drugmaker Mylan Inc (NSQ:MYL - News) said it would buy the injectable drugs unit of Strides Arcolab Ltd (NSI:STAR.NS - News) for $1.6 billion to expand its presence in the fast-growing generic injectables market. The deal for Agila Specialities, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Strides, caps months of uncertainty regarding its sale, with reports suggesting Pfizer Inc (NYS:PFE - News) and Japan's Otsuka Holdings Co Ltd as other potential buyers. The deal will help Mylan, one of the world's largest generic drugmakers, double its injectable drugs portfolio. A raft of patent expiries that will stretch until 2016 is expected to drive growth in the global generic injectables market. Also, many generic injectable drugs, which tend to be administered in hospitals, have been in short supply in the United States, including treatments for cancer. "Together we will have more than 700 marketed injectables products and a global pipeline of more than 350 injectables products pending approval," Mylan President Rajiv Malik said. Mylan said the acquisition of Bangalore-based Agila is expected to immediately add to its adjusted diluted earnings per share following closing. "We expect the transaction to have a greater than 10 percent return on invested capital by the … Continue reading

Drugs And Sport Stars: A Different Approach
Posted: Published on February 28th, 2013
It would be easy to assume that the only drugs sportsmen take these days are performance-enhancing ones. Just look at Lance Armstrong, you may say. The tragic case of Tom Maynard shows how wrong this assumption can be. Wrong, yet understandable. In this era of highly-regimented, professional sport, one can sometimes form the impression that all sportsmen are automatons, programmed to go from gym to training ground to playing field and back round again, with only one thought in mind: to win at all costs. Which right-minded competitors would risk this by putting recreational drugs into their body? But these are people, not robots, many of them very young, too, prone to exactly the same temptations as anyone else. Maynard, it turns out - despite the promise of a brilliant England career in the offing - had found the lure of the shadier side of London life too much to resist. The coroner suggested he had been taking cocaine and ecstasy, perhaps on a regular basis, for some time. His death was a dreadful loss for everyone - family, friends, teammates and all those who love English cricket. So the Professional Cricketers' Association is to be commended for its enlightened … Continue reading

Psychedelic science conference highlights therapeutic benefits of mind-altering drugs
Posted: Published on February 28th, 2013
The psychedelic movement of the 1960s and 70s ended with the enactment of federal laws making most of these drugs illegal. But psychedelics have moved on, into laboratories, hospitals and clinical settings where the use of mind-altering drugs has been intensively studied for their unique benefits to health especially mental health. Enter the MAPS Psychedelic Science Conference, the brainchild of Harvard Ph.D. Rick Doblin, whose decades of pioneering scientific work with psychedelics is bringing together talented presenters from all over the globe from April18 23 in Oakland, California. Many of these presenters are medical doctors from hospitals like Johns Hopkins, Santa Fe Medical Center, Harvard, U.C. Berkeley and other clinical settings where psychedelic research has been conducted or studied. The term psychedelic was first coined by British psychiatrist Humphrey Osmond in 1957 and means mind-manifesting. Osmond was one of the first medical doctors to work with LSD in a clinical setting. Psychedelic drugs include LSD, mescaline, psilocybin, DMT, MDMA (Ecstasy) and whole plants and fungus including peyote, magic mushrooms, ayahuasca and other agents. MAPS, which stands for Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, was founded in 1986 by Doblin and has functioned as a clearing house, bringing to light the many … Continue reading

GlaxoSmithKline unit joins patent pool for AIDS drugs
Posted: Published on February 28th, 2013
LONDON (Reuters) - GlaxoSmithKline's HIV/AIDS drugs business is to share intellectual property rights on children's medicine in a patent pool designed to make treatments more widely available in poor countries. ViiV Healthcare, majority-owned by GSK, is the second research-based pharmaceutical business to sign up to the new Medicines Patent Pool, following a lead set in 2011 by Gilead Sciences. Although more than half of people living with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that causes AIDS now get the drugs they need - thanks to a major roll-out of treatment in Africa - an estimated 6.8 million still go without, according to UNAIDS. The Medicines Patent Pool (MPP), launched in 2010 by the UNITAID health financing system that is funded by a levy on airline tickets, aims to address the remaining gap by getting patent holders to share know-how with makers of cheap generic drugs. In the case of ViiV, a key pediatric medicine known as abacavir will be made available to generic manufacturers which will be able to take a license to make and sell it in 118 poor countries, the patent pool said on Wednesday. ViiV and the patent pool have also agreed to negotiate further licenses that will … Continue reading
