Stendra, the brand name for avanafil, is sold by Vivus Inc. and willcompete with other erectile-dysfunction drugs currently on the market: Pfizers Viagra, Eli Lillys Cialis and GlaxoSmithKline and Bayers Levitra. Like its competitors, Stendra is among a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, which work by increasing blood flow to the penis. Based on clinical trials, Stendra may kick in faster than its counterparts possibly in as little as 15 minutes. The brand name you will be hearing in those inevitable ads: Stendra. It's made by a company called Vivus, Inc., and belongs to the same class of medicines as Viagra, from Pfizer Inc., Cialis, from Eli Lilly, and Levitra, from GlaxoSmithKline and Bayer.
