Diabetes, Heart Disease, and Stroke | NIDDK

Having diabetes means that you are more likely to develop heart disease and have a greater chance of a heart attack or a stroke. People with diabetes are also more likely to have certain conditions, or risk factors, that increase the chances of having heart disease or stroke, such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol. If you have diabetes, you can protect your heart and health by managing your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, as well as your blood pressure and cholesterol. If you smoke, get help to stop. Over time, high blood glucose from diabetes can damage your blood vessels and the nerves that control your heart and blood vessels. The longer you have diabetes, the higher the chances that you will develop heart disease.1 People with diabetes tend to develop heart disease at a younger age than people without diabetes. In adults with diabetes, the most common causes of death are heart disease and stroke. Adults with diabetes are nearly twice as likely to die from heart disease or stroke as people without diabetes.2 The good news is that the steps you take to manage your diabetes also help to lower your chances of having heart … Continue reading

Overview Heart disease describes a range of conditions that affect your heart. Diseases under the heart disease umbrella include blood vessel diseases, such as coronary artery disease; heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias); and heart defects you're born with (congenital heart defects), among others. The term "heart disease" is often used interchangeably with the term "cardiovascular disease." Cardiovascular disease generally refers to conditions that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke. Other heart conditions, such as those that affect your heart's muscle, valves or rhythm, also are considered forms of heart disease. Many forms of heart disease can be prevented or treated with healthy lifestyle choices. Heart disease symptoms depend on what type of heart disease you have. Cardiovascular disease symptoms may be different for men and women. For instance, men are more likely to have chest pain; women are more likely to have other symptoms along with chest discomfort, such as shortness of breath, nausea and extreme fatigue. Symptoms can include: You might not be diagnosed with cardiovascular disease until you have a heart attack, angina, stroke or heart failure. It's important to watch for cardiovascular symptoms and discuss concerns … Continue reading

Sessions Track 1:Heart Disease & Failure Heart diseaseare the disorders that affect your heart. Diseases under the heart disease umbrella include blood vessel diseases, such ascoronary arterydisease;heart rhythmproblems (arrhythmias); and heart defects you're born with i.e. congenital heart defects, Rheumatic heart disease, cardiovascular diseases ,Ischemic heart disease, Heart generation and many more. Heart failure is a condition in which your heart can't pump enough blood to meet your body's needs. The term Heart failure doesnt mean that your heart has stopped or its about to stop working. CHD can lead to heart failure by weakening the heart muscle over time. However, heart failure is a serious condition that requires medical care. Track 2:Cardiac and Cardiovascular Research Cardiology Conferences 2018 promotes awareness against Risk factor modification about theheart diseases. The most comprehensive provider ofcardiovascular servicesin the prevention, detection, management and treatment of the cardiovascular diseases. This annual cardiology meeting 2018 is a platform for postgraduate education and scientific work in the fields of cardiology, angiology, hypertensionand cardiac andvascular surgery. It reduces clinical events and premature death in people with cardiovascular disease risk.Cardiovascular diseaseis treatable with initial treatment primarily focused on diet and lifestyle interventions. The medical meeting focuses on the treatment of cardiac … Continue reading

Heart Disease – A Closer Look at Stem Cell Treatments
Posted: Published on May 27th, 2018
Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death worldwide in men, women and children, claiming more than 17 million lives each year. The effects of congestive heart failure and acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) present great challenges for doctors and researchers alike. In this section: Heart attacks cause damage to the heart muscle, making it less efficient at pumping blood throughout the circulatory system. Your heart is constructed of several types of cells. For mending damaged heart tissue, researchers generally focus on three specific heart cell types: Gladstone Institutes. Close up of a mouse heart stained to reveal the important structural protein that helps heart muscle cells to contract (red). The cell nuclei are labeled in magenta. Despite major advances in how heart disease is managed, heart disease is progressive. Once heart cells are damaged, they cannot be replaced efficiently, at least not as we understand the heart today. There is evidence that the heart has some repair capability, but that ability is limited and not yet well understood. Heart failure is a general term to describe a condition in which the hearts blood-pumping action is weaker than normal. How much weaker varies widely from person to person, but … Continue reading

Journal of Heart and Cardiovascular Research is a peer reviewed journal that provides a worldwide platform for dispersal of current findings in the field of cardiology, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases such as cardiomyopathy, atherosclerosis, arrhythmia, heart attack, impairment of function of cardiac valves and congenital heart diseases. The journal also aims at creating awareness on prevention and early detection of CVDs by monitoring symptoms like frequent recurrence of cardiac angina. The scope of the journal includes current advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic methods relating to cardiac dysfunctions, such as Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA), Echocardiography (ECG), Coronary Angiography, Myocardial Biopsy, Pericardiocentesis, Cardiac Catheterization, Stent Placement, Bypass Surgery and Insertion of Pacemaker. The journal accepts manuscripts providing knowledge on recent findings on various aspects of cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular pathology and other factors like obesity, smoking and lack of physical exercise which may lead to the incidence of cardiovascular diseases. The journal accepts original research article, review article, short communication, case report, letter-to-the-Editor and Editorials for publication in an open access platform. All the articles published in the journal can be accessed online without any subscription charges and will receive the benefit of extensive worldwide visibility. Processing of … Continue reading
