TAKE NOTE, MCA: After mega dinner, mega DISASTER awaits at GE13

Posted: Published on November 1st, 2012

It was reported in the Star that several thousand people attended the mega dinner in the Ipoh Stadium, organised by the Perak MCA on 14 October. In his speech, Dr Chua Soi Lek, the MCA President, urged the guests to vote for the Barisan National because it had established a solid foundation dating back to independence. He also said that DAP would not be able to defend the Chinese even if Pakatan Rakyat took over power because it is subservient to PAS and Parti Keadilan. At the function, Dr Chua presented Rm 500,000 to 44 Chinese primary schools and 6 national type secondary schools or Rm 10,000 for each school. Various thoughts come to my mind on reading the report of the mega dinner. One is of disbelief that the MCA leaders can stoop so low in using public funds for Chinese education in their attempt to win a few seats in the coming elections. But we should not be surprised especially when we look at MCAs track record in the 2008 general election in Perak where they won only one state and three parliamentary seats. A Chairman of one of the Chinese schools told me that he did not … Continue reading

The Thermobalancing therapy improves the condition of the prostate gland without touching it, while, hospitals are getting new expensive machines for prostate laser surgery, so a number of men having this prostate removal procedure will be increased and as a result more cases of erectile dysfunction can follow, states Fine Treatment. London, UK (PRWEB) October 27, 2012 It's alarming that hospitals are getting new equipment to enlarge the capacity for conducting benign prostatic hyperplasia surgeries. According to the University Hospitals of Kingston Foundation, these units do not come cheap. A single machine markets for $160,000 or more, and hospitals must fund these costs themselves, as highlighted in the news by L. Payette on 25 October 2012. Complications after prostate surgeries can be really horrid. Read, for instance, the multiple testimonials men share openly on Mens Health Forum on Retrograde Ejaculation after Prostate Surgery. A message posted on 29 December 2011 says, I was misled by my doctor in 2009. Expected one thing and was incontinent for 2 years after TURP. No warning from the doctor. No preparation. Impotency at times followed a few months after the surgery. No more ejaculation. Another post of 2 October 2011 states, I'm 44 male, … Continue reading

Long Valley cancer specialist: Complexity of prostate cancer requires complex treatments

Posted: Published on October 15th, 2012

WASHINGTON TWP. The first signs of prostate cancer should be closely monitored but a leading prostate cancer researcher said treatment must be personalized and can range from surveillance to surgery and many treatments in between. Prostate cancer can behave very differently in different men and treatment, diagnosis and whether surgery or radiation is needed is very individualized, said Dr. Robert S. DiPaola of Long Valley, director of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey. When you get a diagnosis of prostate cancer, fortunately most wont die because the cancer either progresses so slowly or is cured. DiPaola, whose specialty is prostate cancer, was one of 10 physicians at the cancer institute who were recently named Top Docs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The National Cancer Institute has reported that one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetimes. Most of the prostate cancer patients are diagnosed with a form of the disease that has not spread beyond the prostate. But the institute reports that between 30 and 40 percent of those patients will have disease progression within 10 years after having received initial treatment. DiPaola said there are many treatment options for people … Continue reading

After 5 months questions still too hot to handle

Posted: Published on October 14th, 2012

Last Tuesday Finance Minister Tonio Fenech again failed to answer a number of Parliamentary Questions submitted to him five months ago relating to the Prospectus currently in force of the La Valette Property Fund. This prospectus carries a statement that it is approved by the MFSA when it is patently obvious that the Prospectus contradicts the result of the investigations of the MFSA of June 2011. Till today the PQs remained unanswered both in and out of parliament. The Property Fund is still open for subscriptions from the general public. The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) has had enough time to answer in terms of the Press Act to explain their standards of transparency and accountability as a public authority entrusted with investment protection. These were the questions raised in parliament in early June 2012 and to which no answer has been given by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech in Parliament or by MFSA in the media: Is the Hon Minister for Finance aware that the La Valette Property Fund is still open for new subscriptions on the basis of the Prospectus of the Fund currently in force dated 10th August 2010? Is the Minister aware that in spite of the … Continue reading

Joining the World in Prayer for Malala

Posted: Published on October 13th, 2012

Children Image lifted fromhttp://paknews.pk The first thing that struck me as I read reports on Malalas shooting was the village name: Saidu Shareef. Living in Pakistan, we have been conditioned to hear of shootings, bombings and barbarity across the country and get on with our day; unless you know someone who lives where todays incidents took place. A selfish reaction, yes but required when you hear of so much every day. When drone attacks were at their peak, there was a situation in Pakistan known as the IDPs Internally Displaced Persons much like refugees, but because no international borders were crossed, they were homeless in their own homes. Campsites were set up across the country to house these people, all hailing from various quarters of the then North West Frontier Province (now KPK) and Balochistan regions. These were the less fortunate who didnt have family or friends they could set up house with temporarily, for an indefinite period. These camps helped them make new friends, formulate new families. I volunteered at one such camp in Swabi, NWFP, where I met a family from Saidu Shareef. From the minute Nasreen, a mother of three, propped her youngest, 8 months old at … Continue reading

'Once Upon a Time': Charming in charge and Regina's redemption

Posted: Published on October 8th, 2012

In "Once Upon a Time" this week (in an episode entitled "We Are Both"), Charming takes control, we find out what happened to Cora (Regina's evil mom), and Regina gets her powers back. There's the general; here's some of the specifics: The boundary of Storybrooke: With magic back in Storybrooke, it stands to reason that people would want to know what's going on with the world outside. Leave it to the dwarfs to be the ones to discover it: If a Storybrooke resident leaves the town, they will be back under the town's curse -- not remembering their fairy-tale lives. As Grumpy says, "Terrible news!" Sneezy was sacrificed, though. The townspeople are in a frenzy for some reason. They've lived the last 28 years under essentially false IDs, but there seems to be an extra portion of chaos. And to quell the chaos, everyone looks to Prince Charming/David. Their hero. Their liege. Despite being bombarded with questions about a plan for what to do about everything, Charming's focus is on getting Snow White and Emma Swan back. PHOTOS: Movie princesses through the years Enter Regina, and the Mad Hatter's hat. Having lost her powers, Regina can't help Charming open the … Continue reading

Louisville Army veteran sues VA after suffering frostbitten penis

Posted: Published on October 4th, 2012

WHAS11.com Posted on October 2, 2012 at 5:37 PM Updated yesterday at 12:22 AM LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville U.S. Army veteran has decided to sue the federal government for $10 million. I think this is probably the clearest case of medical negligence Ive ever seen, Larry Jones said. Jones represents 61-year-old Michael Nash who underwent surgery for a circumcision and penile implant replacement for impotency in October of 2010 at the VA hospital in Lexington. Had they provided him with the care he deserved we wouldn't be in this situation, Jones said. The lawsuit claimed a nurse applied and reapplied an ice pack to Nashs groin for 19 hours following the surgery. They said it led to frostbite, gangrene and eventually a partial amputation. He has lost his manhood. He has lost his ability to stand at the toilet and urinate. He has lost his ability to engage in sexual relations, Jones said. Nash filed a claim with the hospital citing his grievances, but Jones said his client barely got a response. Here is the original post: Louisville Army veteran sues VA after suffering frostbitten penis … Continue reading

Despite Tory carping, Canadians value the United Nations

Posted: Published on October 2nd, 2012

Two years ago Prime Minister Stephen Harpers Conservatives cared enough about the United Nations to lobby for a Security Council seat. Now, after being jilted, they seem to be in a cranky funk. Unlike U.S. President Barack Obama, who spoke eloquently on freedom of speech to this years General Assembly, Harper couldnt be bothered to attend. He was in New York last week, but only to accept a world statesman award as he turned his back on most of it. Canada has no interest in trying to court every dictator with a vote at the United Nations, Harper told the award dinner. Or just going along with every emerging international consensus, no matter how self-evidently wrong-headed. Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird then hectored the General Assembly. Canada cannot and will not participate in endless, fruitless inward-looking exercises, he said. The UN spends too much time on itself. It must now look outward. Granted, the UN has more than its share of flaws. The Security Council has failed so far to thwart Irans nuclear ambitions or stop Syrias bloodshed. (It has also been accused of impotency on the Palestinian issue, though Ottawa has no complaint about that.) Despotic regimes get a … Continue reading
