Posted: Published on December 21st, 2011
As with umbilical cord blood banking, GeneCell International is at the forefront of the research and the technology developed to process and store stem cells found within the dental pulp. Although most people are familiar with banking cord , few people are aware of the advantages of harvesting stem cells from the dental pulp: •Dental pulp can be obtained unobtrusively as children or adults lose teeth •The stem cells found in dental pulp are non-controversial adult stem cells (mesenchymal stem cells) •Dental pulp stem cells are excellent candidates for regenerative medicine and tissue engineering applications GeneCell International is committed to excellence in cell processing and cryogenically storing your dental pulp stem cells. Using state-of-the-art equipment and highly qualified, laboratory personnel, we ensure the highest quality standard is upheld thus providing the best possible service for our clients. Prometheus and I: building new body parts from stem cells (15 Nov 2011) – Video
Posted: Published on December 16th, 2011
UCL Lunch Hour Lecture: Prometheus and I: building new body parts from stem cells Professor Martin Birchall (UCL Ear Institute) Prometheus created life from clay, and within many biologists and surgeons there is a primal desire to do the same from the materials at hand, in an effort to stave off death and disease. Organ transplantation has been one Promethean solution, but a lack of donor organs, ethical and other issues limits the stretch of this technology Read more from the original source: Prometheus and I: building new body parts from stem cells (15 Nov 2011) - Video … Continue reading

2011 Summit: Translational Medicine: Key to Progress or Bridge to Nowhere?, Andrew S. Grove, PhD – Video
Posted: Published on December 14th, 2011
Andy Grove, PhD and Former CEO of Intel Corporation, dared to suggest that translational medicine will be a "bridge to nowhere" if the way we handle the development of new drugs does not undergo a serious transformation. He proposed a radical rethinking of our whole regulatory and IP system, encouraging all members of the stem cell community to stimulate action and push for change. Grove asked attendees to consider how stem cell science will live in the current system and to pioneer innovative ways to get therapies to the clinic faster.
