Multiple Sclerosis natural treatment with herbs, vitamins …

Multiple Sclerosis natural treatment, vitamins, herbs, supplements, alternative therapy and remedy by Ray Sahelian, M.D. Nerve fibers inside and outside the brain are wrapped with many layers of insulation called the myelin sheath. Much like the insulation around an electrical wire, the myelin sheath permits electrical impulses to be conducted along the nerve fiber with speed and accuracy. When myelin is damaged, nerves don't conduct impulses properly. Multiple sclerosis is a disorder in which the nerves of the eye, brain, and spinal cord lose patches of myelin. IgG antibodies to the myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein appear to participate in the more severe type of multiple sclerosis. Children who spend more time in the sun have a lower risk for developing multiple sclerosis as adults. Something in relation to sunlight and/or vitamin D exposure during childhood may play a protective role. High-salt diets could speed the onset and progression of autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis in individuals already genetically predisposed to develop such conditions. Natural treatment for multiple sclerosis MS At this point it is very difficult to know with any certainty which supplements, in what dosages, and in what combination (s) would be helpful for multiple sclerosis, if … Continue reading

Indian diplomat leaves US under immunity

Posted: Published on January 11th, 2014

The case caused a serious rift between the United States and India, which described Devyani Khobragade's treatment as outrageous and heavy-handed. "As a family, (we) would not like to touch the soil of the country (USA) which treat human being in such a inhuman way in an utter violation of the human right, utter violation of the Geneva convention," her father Uttam Khobragade, a retired bureaucrat, said. Ms Khobragade had been facing charges of underpaying her Indian-born housekeeper and lying about it on a visa form. Her departure from the US could signal a cooling of tensions and give both countries a way to claim victory, although her father said the case was a triumph for India because his daughter was leaving the US with full diplomatic immunity. The issue of immunity is key to the case, which erupted a month ago when Ms Khobragade, a 39-year-old mother of two, was arrested. She was strip-searched and kept in a cell with other criminal defendants before being released on bail of $250,000. In recent weeks, federal officials have said that Ms Khobragade's immunity is limited to acts performed in the exercise of consular functions. But on Thursday, a US government official … Continue reading

India asks US to withdraw diplomat as row escalates

Posted: Published on January 10th, 2014

The row could escalate further next week when Ms Khobragade was due to appear in court and India had set a deadline for the American Embassy in New Delhi to close its popular social club, which India said was operating illegally. A planned visit by US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz was cancelled as the relationship President Barack Obama had called the defining partnership of the 21st Century deteriorated further. A spokesman for Indias Ministry of External Affairs said it would take the restoration of its formerly good relationship with the United States one day at a time. We will decide things after we talk to her [Ms Khobragade]. Were all committed to a better relationship with the United States. Our concern was how this happened. This is not the way partners treat one another, she was arrested and handcuffed without conversations, he said. Ms Khobragade, who returned to India last night, has yet to make a statement since she left rhe United States, but her father, a former senior civil servant, said she had done nothing wrong but had stood up for Indias sovereignty. The indictment paints a picture of Ms Khobragade as a harsh employer who refused to allow … Continue reading

Multiple sclerosis predicting treatment success

Posted: Published on January 7th, 2014

07.01.2014 - (idw) Julius-Maximilians-Universitt Wrzburg People with multiple sclerosis often have problems with their gait. A drug that can help them is unfortunately only effective in fewer than half of patients. Now medics from the Department of Neurology at the University of Wrzburg have developed a method for predicting the success of this treatment. People who suffer from multiple sclerosis (MS) have centers of inflammation in the brain and spinal cord, which cause symptoms that range in severity depending on their site and size. Many patients have gait problems that seriously impede them in everyday life. The medicine of choice in this case is the agent fampridine, which has been approved in Germany since 2011. It blocks potassium channels on the surface of nerve axons and, in so doing, can improve the conductivity of nerve fibers. After taking fampridine, many sufferers are able to walk more quickly again; they also report that they feel steadier walking. However, studies even before the approval of fampridine have shown that fewer than half of patients with MS actually benefit from taking the drug. The rest experience no change in their ability to walk. For this reason, physicians can currently only give the medication … Continue reading

LA BioMed to study Vitamin A’s potential benefits for multiple sclerosis patients

Posted: Published on January 6th, 2014

PUBLIC RELEASE DATE: 6-Jan-2014 Contact: Laura Mecoy lmecoy@labiomed.org 310-546-5860 Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center (LA BioMed) LOS ANGELES (Jan. 6, 2014) Some 2.5 million people around the world have multiple sclerosis (MS), a potentially debilitating disease in which the body's immune system destroys the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerves. This damage interferes with the communication between the brain, spinal cord and other parts of the body, causing symptoms that can range from a mild weakness to an inability to walk or speak clearly. There is no cure for MS, but there are some preliminary data showing that Vitamin D, retinoic acid or Vitamin A, may help alleviate these symptoms. To determine if Vitamin A could help, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation recently awarded the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute (LA BioMed) a $900,000 grant to study the role of serum Vitamin A in halting or at least slowing disease progression in people with Relapsing-Remitting MS. About 80% of MS patients have Relapsing-Remitting MS, in which new symptoms flare up and then go into remission. "This grant will jump start this area of research in the United States," said Bijal Mehta, MD, MPH, the lead researcher … Continue reading

Comments(5) FRAUD victim Beverly Lawton has been told to pay back 18,000 to the bank after she gave the money a former friend who tricked her by claiming she was dying of cancer. Over a number of years, Ms Lawton gave around 80,000 to con artist Catherine Moreton, after falling for her sob story that she had only months to live and needed money to pay for private cancer treatment. In fact, Moreton just wanted the cash to pay off her mortgage. Moreton, aged 59, of Sharman Close, Stoke, was jailed for two years in October after admitting three counts of fraud. But now Ms Lawton has been told by the Co-operative Bank that she must pay back 18,000 she authorised to be paid to Moreton on a Visa card.. Mother-of-two Ms Lawton, aged 57, of Lightwood, said: "They are chasing after me for the money. I have to pay about 18,000 to the Co-op. "I have already lost my savings by giving it to Moreton, but now I am having to pay out again. I can't understand it. I haven't had any of that money, she had it.
