The only curative approach to treating myelofibrosis (MF) at this time is hematopoietic stem cell transplant, but the treatment landscape for this patient population continues to expand, particularly since the identification of the JAK-STAT pathway as a potential target in 2005. A drug which has already been approved for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients effectively inhibits the coronavirus when tested on human lung cells and, at the same time, fights the immune reaction that is killing COVID-19 patients around the world.
